About this Class

All participants 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult while participating in a public skating session. All participants 12 years of age and older need proof of vaccination. Participants of all skating abilities and backgrounds are welcome to participate in our scheduled Public Skate at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Enjoy the ice time, and the supervision of our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Advanced registration is required for all Drop-in sessions; on-site registration is not available at this time. Online registration is available 2 days prior to the Public Skate Session. No partner or group skating is allowed at this time. Please bring your UBC ID card or government issued ID. UBC Athletics & Recreation will requires all persons to wear a non-medical face mask while indoors until they access the ice. Sign in will be done in the North Entrance of the DMTSC, and staff will then allow entry into the facility 30 minutes prior to the ice time. Policies: No group or partner skates will be allowed at this time. Staff will be available within the arena for questions and guidance. Participants are asked to review the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sport Centre Policies, Rules, and Arena Etiquette prior to attending their session. To cancel your session, please email Brian.J.Busenius@ubc.ca, a minimum of 3 hour before your registered start time. UBC Athletics & Recreation requires all persons to wear a non-medical face mask while indoors and not participating in physical activity. Required Equipment: Any participant 12 years of age and younger is required to wear a CSA approved hockey helmet. Available Equipment: Rental skates and helmets will only be available to be purchased.
